The Rossville Town Park is located on N. East St. The park has undergone an extensive transformation in recent years due to a community effort. Funding has come from the Clinton County Community Foundation, private individuals, the Rossville Lion’s Club, the Rossville Kiwanis, and the Homer Cameron Post 342. The seven acre park has developed into a family friendly recreational area for all ages to enjoy.
Several of the amenities include a lighted walking trail, basketball court, two playground areas, two enclosed pavilions, an open-air pavilion, baseball fields, soccer fields, and landscaping.
The walking trail is paved and lighted. The distance around the trail is approximately .6 of a mile. Several individuals, businesses, and service organizations have sponsored the lights and park benches placed around the trail.
There are two playground areas for children to enjoy. One area is for very small children and toddlers and other is for older children.
The park has become a perennial haven. The Rossville Kiwanis Club planted several perennial flower beds on the east side of the park along the walking trail for walkers and joggers to enjoy. There have also been several tree and bush varieties planted throughout the park.
The Rossville Baseball Association and the Rossville Fall Soccer League currently use the fields within the park. The Baseball Association currently has a summer and fall league for children. There are three playing fields. The Rossville Fall Soccer League has completed several successful seasons at the park. Due to the increased interest in the sport, the Rossville School Corporation now has a varsity boys and girls soccer team. They currently use the soccer fields as practice fields.
An open air pavilion, which the Rossville Lion’s Club donated to the park, is free and available on a first come first serve basis.
The pavilion was added in June, 2012. It has a full kitchen, bathrooms, heating, air conditioning, seating for 128 persons, and wheel chair accessible. The cost is $155.00 plus tax for individuals living within the Rossville School District and $205.00 plus tax for individuals outside the Rossville School District. There is a required rental agreement and a $100.00 damage deposit that must also be remitted at the time of rental. The deposit will be returned if the pavilion has been properly cleaned and there has been no damage.
