Rossville Business Association Meeting Minutes

Meeting Time: 12:00 p.m.

Meeting Place: Milner Health Care Community Activity Center

Members Present: 7 members present

Lunch Provided By: Pat McIlrath

1. The meeting was called to order by Rod Miller. Pat McIlrath was thanked for providing the meal. Minutes from the previous meeting were approved as presented.

2. Treasurer’s Report:

Checking Acct--$4421.40

Savings Acct.--$9532.15

PayPal--$184.00

Old Business:

1. The 2017 Rossville H.S. Baseball Team will be riding on one of the fire trucks. It was asked whether signs should be made. Pat will check with Ann Hodson regarding a banner of some type depending on the cost.

2. Thank you note was received from a scholarship recipient Mackenzie Oliver.

3. We have not heard anything from the Clinton County Visitor and Tourism Grant.

New Business:

1. A request was received regarding the placement of an ad in the RHS yearbook. Pat McIlrath made a motion to place an ad, seconded by Doug Ticen, and the motion passed.

2. There was no one signed up for the August 8th meeting to provide for the meal. Rita Betts will check with Arni’s.

3. The August 22nd RBA meeting will be held at the park pavilion.

4. If any additional signs are needed, we need to let Ann Hodson know by August 10th.

Summer’s End Festival Committee Chairs:

 Advertising—To date there are 2 gold level, 2 silver level, and 2 bronze level sponsors for the Summer’s End Festival.

 Coupon Books—Nathan McCollum stated he is working on them.

 Queen Pageant—There are three contestants.

 Parking—Delphi FFA will be doing the parking.

 Fireworks—Donations are down this year. Currently have $424.34 in donations.

 Entertainment—Ryan Rollins will play on Saturday night for 2 hours.

Members Present: 19 members present

1. The meeting was called to order by Rod Miller. Arni’s was thanked for providing the meal.

2. Minutes from the previous meeting were approved as presented.

3. Treasurer’s Report:

Checking Acct: $5108.65

Savings Acct: $9532.15

PayPal: $184.00

Old Business:

1. It was confirmed that RBA would be receiving $2500.00 for the Summer’s End Festival to use for advertising; however, a check has not been received as of yet.

Summer’s End Festival:

 Sign out and pick up your radios. It is your responsibility to return them to the Town Hall Monday morning.

 Advertising has been appearing in the The Times and the Journal Courier

 There are still a few booth spaces available. There are more food vendor reservations this year.

 Coupon books should be delivered on Friday. Those businesses that have placed only ads in the coupon book need to be invoiced.

 Information Booth still has a few spaces available.

 Car/Bike Show is ready

 Lil Miss/Mister-6 girls and 1 boy

 Cutest Baby-5 cuties

 Queen Pageant-3 contestants

 Entertainment-Ryan Rollins will play on Saturday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

 Church Service-Rossville United Methodist Church in charge

 Hornet Hustle-Several already pre-registered. They will be needing cones.

 Fireworks donations down this year. As of today only $659.54 received.

 Delphi FFA will handle the parking.

 Saturday evening kid contests will be located near the old shelter and begin at 6:00 p.m. There will be a hula hoop and jump rope contest. There will also be a cake walk. Donations for the cake walk are needed. They can be dropped off at the Town Hall on Friday or at the pavilion on Friday or Saturday.

 Parade-currently have 50 entries already

The meeting was adjourned to Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the Milner Health Care Community Activity Center at 12:00 p.m. The Times, Sharon Bardonner, and Nathan McCollum has volunteered to provide the meal.

2. Minutes from the previous meeting were approved as presented.

3. Treasurer’s Report:

Summer’s End Festival Wrap Up:

 Financial Summary—A financial summary of expenses and income at the present time was presented to the group. The expenses currently are $11,827.93 and the income was $20,789.44.

 The check from the Clinton County Tourism Grant has not been received as of today.

 The t-shirt invoice for the Hornet Hustle has not been submitted yet.

 Information Booth—The following observations were given

--not enough picnic tables

--no entertainment on Friday

--contests on Friday evening need to all start at 7:00 p.m. instead of staggering

them

--there needs to be a PA system at the open air shelter

 Booth set up went well. One large food vendor didn’t show. There were large spaces between booths that were not filled.

 Car Show had 130+ cars and bikes. It went well.

 No church service update.

 Hornet Hustle—It was suggested possibly running this event on Friday evening instead of Saturday morning.

 Parade—There were 75+ entries. All revenue was profit. We need to decide before next year whether we will charge per vehicle as several entries had multiple vehicles.

 Fireworks were well received.

 Parking—Delphi FFA did a good job. It was suggested there needs to be someone in charge of Friday evening parking.

New Business:

1. There was discussion of possibly meeting every other month.

2. The Town of Rossville sesquicentennial is coming up in 2020.

The meeting was adjourned to Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the Milner Health Care Community Activity Center at 12:00 p.m. Kristine Morris has volunteered to provide the meal.
